I recall the very first adventure in a hot air balloon flight, all kinds of circumstance were going going on inside my head. What if we wrack up ? Maybe the fuel cell will explode? Could we use parachutes? Of course these were all stupid thoughts but, they were quite natural. My natural thinking was simply withdraw from this insane trip, as it was I had a tiny fear of heights. My first flight in a balloon was given to me as a birthday gift and it turned out to be the best birthday gift one might have.
the 1st flight was cancelled thanks to the weather, the wind was to strong, this put me off quite a lot we were forewarn the flight was to be rescheduled for the following week and we'd be setting off at 8 in the morning.
Possibly the most suitable time to fly is early in the morning as the air temperature is perfect, being less warm in the morning.
the night before we were due to fly, sleep was out of the question I was to concerned to sleep but , tiredness was out of the question also my adrenaline was pumping. There were many hot air balloons that flew above our home but , actually you just don't take any notice of them. They were just floating by and no-one took any real notice of them or the people in them. All this was about to change, it was me that was going to be flying way above everyone on the ground.
As we arrived at the target site, work on climbing the balloon was on the way, after introductions we were asked if we want to aid in getting the balloon inflated prepared for take off. After this the balloon burner was employed to inflate the balloon, ropes were being held by the crew as it inflated and I just grabbed one of the other ropes.
The basket was a lot bigger than what you imagine, most people assume the basket will hold up to four folks we were told this basket could safely carry twelve adult's. As it was there were to be eight of us flying on that day and that incorporated the pilot.
The pilot then told us to hold on while we prepared to take flight, the burner was employed one or two times and then we all felt the balloon lift, in front of us were a few trees, I had not truly took much notice of these before however I noticed them know. The pilot didn't appear worried as he used the flame once more which elevated us, as we were above the trees I looked at them and it made me think, this was the first time any person had the opportunity to see the tree tops as near before.
Once we were away the instructor asked us all to look out for power lines particularly during landing, he was in repeated touch with the ground crew. The pilot stated that we would climb to quite a height and infrequently they'd climb to about 6000 feet. Our flight duration, we were told would be about 40 5 mins so as you can imagine plenty of photographs were being taken.
in the flight all of our fears vanished and everybody within all our small troop totally enjoying themselves. The view from this balloon flight was fantastic, it had been a beautiful clear morning and we could all see for many miles.
The descent was quite dramatic, the balloon lost it's height quite fast and we could see the ground crew already ready. As we came to ground it was kind of rough and we were all happy that the basket had been made from wicker as it it controlled the bumps to ground very well.
When the time came to climb out of the basketscramble from our nest} we all thanked the pilot and ground crew for a wonderful experience.
